FleadhTV<br \/>\nwill broadcast Live from 8.30pm to 11.30pm over four nights from Thursday\u00a0August 18th to Sunday August 21st 2016 on TG4 as well as live on <a href=\"https:\/\/dev.tg4.ie\">tg4.tv<\/a> and fleadhcheoil.ie.<\/p>\n<p>This year Fleadh Cheoil na h\u00c9ireann from Ennis looks set to be\u00a0one of the most exciting yet. Presenters Lynette Fay and Cathy Jordan will be\u00a0joined by two new hosts this year. TG4\u2019s own Mair\u00e9ad Ni Chuaig and legendary\u00a0local Clare musician T\u00f3la Custy.<\/p>\n<p>2016\u2019s series will see the addition to the show of a mobile camera crew who will be in\u00a0a different Clare town each night &#8211; Bunratty Folk Village, Tulla, Ennistymon and\u00a0Miltown Malbay. The main FleadhTV Festival site will be based on the grounds of\u00a0the Temple Gate Hotel in Ennis where a live audience of 1,500 people can enjoy all\u00a0the show taking place right in front of their eyes.<\/p>\n<p>In 2015, a huge 1.1million people tuned in to watch over the course of the four\u00a0nights of FleadhTV from last year\u2019s venue, Sligo. Traditional music is well and truly at\u00a0the forefront of Irish television and TG4 are leading the way.<\/p>\n<p>Lynette and Cathy are back again this year and have two new presenters joining\u00a0them. Mair\u00e9ad Ni Chuaig is a familiar face to TG4 viewers already. Mair\u00e9ad said<br \/>\ntoday\u201d I\u2019ve grown up attending Fleadh Cheoil na h\u00c9ireann and it\u2019s a beautiful\u00a0celebration of our rich and vibrant cultural traditions. On joining the FleadhTV\u00a0team, T\u00f3la said, \u201cI will try to bring what I see going on all the time in County Clare, to\u00a0a world audience, in a natural way on FleadhTV. We really hope\u00a0that the FleadhTV audience of over one million will revel in the very best of what\u00a0Ennis and the rest of Clare has to offer during Fleadh Cheoil na h\u00c9ireann Inis 2016\u201d.\u00a0Fleadh Cheoil Inis 2016 is in association with Shannon Airport and runs from August\u00a014th to 22nd 2016.<\/p>\n<h3>NOTES TO EDITORS:<\/h3>\n<p>Mair\u00e9ad Ni Chuaig is one of the friendly faces of \u201cAn Aimsir L\u00e1ithreach\u201d on TG4,\u00a0where she works alongside a creative and fabulous team. As an experienced<br \/>\ntelevision presenter, she has been involved in media for a number of years. Mair\u00e9ad\u00a0is an adventurer who has travelled the world alongside her friend Gavin filming\u00a0Wwoof\u00e1il, an IFTA nominated travel series for TG4. She has just returned from\u00a0Australia.<\/p>\n<p>T\u00f3la Custy hails from Toonagh in County Clare and, although travelling the world\u00a0many times has never lived anywhere else. His father, Frank was the local primary\u00a0school teacher and also inspired many people to play traditional music. Names such\u00a0as James Cullinane, Siobhan Peoples, Sharon Shannon, as well as T\u00f3la himself all\u00a0owe their musical beginnings to him. Having so many who make music their daily\u00a0ritual in the one place music has been a friend to T\u00f3la since he was able to walk.<\/p>\n<p>T\u00f3la first cut his teeth by making the album \u201cSetting Free\u201d with bouzouki player Cyril\u00a0O Donoghue in 1993. He then teamed up with the Moynihan Family from County\u00a0Cork and,along with bouzouki player Pat Marsh, formed the group \u201cCalico\u201d. Two well\u00a0acclaimed albums followed in 1997 and 1999. Next, in 1998 came a live recording\u00a0with \u201cThe Bowhouse Quintet\u201d (a classical\/traditional ensemble). A musical\u00a0partnership with Piano accordion player Mirella Murray soon formed and, in 2001 the\u00a0album \u201cThree Sunsets\u201d was made. Later T\u00f3la made various musical collaborations\u00a0with Piano accordionist Alan Kelly and his brother John. Many albums and concerts\u00a0followed.<\/p>\n<p>Recently he has been working and touring with the group \u201cGuidewires\u201d taking his\u00a0musical influences to Greece, Macedonia and Bulgaria. The past year has seen him\u00a0team up with the always evocative Laoise Kelly.This month sees the release of\u00a0\u201cTradivarious\u201d, a collaboration with fellow fiddlers: Dezi Donnelly, Cathal Hayden and\u00a0the powerhouse that is Ed Boyd and John Joe Kelly. He has, on occasions, had the\u00a0opportunity to share stages with people such as Heidi Talbot, Donogh Hennessy, the\u00a0group Grada, Arty Mcglynn and Eddi Reader. In 2010 he had the opportunity to\u00a0collaborate with Kora player Solo Sissoko and guitarist Gerry O\u2019Beirne which\u00a0culminated in a performance in the National Concert Hall. T\u00f3la has also dipped into\u00a0primary teaching, from time to time and enjoys sharing and developing the process of\u00a0music in both children and adults.
