\nThe Irish horror film FR\u00c9AMHACHA<\/strong> will have its world premiere at the prestigious Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland today.

\nWritten and directed by Aislinn Clarke, the Irish language feature stars an all-female cast including Clare Monnelly (Doineann, Moone Boy)<\/em>, Br\u00edd N\u00ed Neachtain (The Banshees of Inisherin, R\u00f3ise & Frank)<\/em>, and Ukrainian actress Aleksandra Bystrzhitskaya (F20)<\/em>.

\nFR\u00c9AMHACHA<\/strong> (international title : FR\u00c9WAKA) revolves around care worker Shoo (Monnelly), who is sent to a remote Irish-speaking village to care for an agoraphobic woman (N\u00ed Neachtain), who fears both the neighbours and the Na S\u00eddhe \u2013 sinister folkloric entities she believes abducted her decades before.
\nAs the pair develop a deep connection, Shoo becomes consumed by the old woman\u2019s paranoia, rituals, and superstitions, eventually confronting the horrors from her own past.
\nProduced by Dermot Lavery for DoubleBand Films (Doineann) and by Patrick O\u2019Neill for Wildcard, FR\u00c9AMHACHA was funded through the Cine4 scheme, supported by TG4, Screen Ireland, Coimisi\u00fan na Me\u00e1n, and Section 48 which is the same scheme that funded the Academy Award nominated Irish film An Cail\u00edn Ci\u00fain.

\nNew Europe Film Sales is handling international sales for the film. Wildcard Distribution will release the film in Irish cinemas in 2025.
