A TG4 \/ Ipsos B&A poll revealed on Nuacht TG4 tonight shows that all four incumbents in Galway West are very much in the running for a seat, with only 6 percentage points separating the top 8 candidates.

At the time of polling on Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th November, sixteen candidates had declared for the five-seater constituency. The quota for election is 17%.
\n 
\nIndependent candidate Catherine Connolly is polling very strongly at 13 per cent and Noel Grealish, Independent is on 12 per cent. Both are well positioned to retain their seats.
\n 
\nOn this showing Fine Gael have benefited from the change in leadership under Simon Harris with a very strong possibility of two seats for Fine Gael in Galway West for candidates Hildegarde Naughton and Se\u00e1n Kyne. Hildegarde Naughton is on 13 per cent and Se\u00e1n Kyne on 10 per cent. Unlike other constituencies, both Fine Gael candidates are experienced campaigners. Fine Gael local vote management also appears to be working, with both candidates transferring well to each other.
\n 
\nLong-serving Fianna F\u00e1il TD, \u00c9amon \u00d3 Cu\u00edv is not contesting this election. In 2020, the Fianna F\u00e1il vote totalled 23 per cent. Where \u00d3 Cu\u00edv\u2019s vote will go is a question everyone is asking. Fianna F\u00e1il\u2019s support has dropped by almost 10 per cent in this TG4\/Ipsos B&A poll. Both candidates are neck and neck with John Connolly on 7 per cent and Gr\u00e1inne Seoige also on 7 per cent. However, Gr\u00e1inne Seoige appears to be more transfer friendly.
\n 
\nSinn F\u00e9in\u2019s Mair\u00e9ad Farrell is on 9 per cent and is in contention to keep her seat but is well short of the quota and will rely on transfers. Independent Ireland\u2019s Noel Thomas, formerly a Fianna F\u00e1il councillor is pushing for a seat, with 8 per cent support in this poll.
\n 
\nThe other candidates in Galway West are Pauline O\u2019Reilly (Green Party) 5 per cent, Helen Ogbu (Labour) 4 per cent, Eibhl\u00edn Seoighthe (Social Democrats) 3 per cent and Mike Cubbard (Non-Party) 3 per cent.<\/p>\n
