TG4 launched its Autumn 2025 schedule<\/strong> today at the Lighthouse Cinema in Smithfield, Dublin unveiling a season rich in new voices, original Irish language cinema, powerful documentaries, live sport, and imaginative children\u2019s programming.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s lineup showcases a diverse mix of compelling storytelling, from intimate portraits and cultural journeys to big-screen drama and unflinching social investigations.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a season designed to reflect modern Ireland in all its complexity celebrating its creativity, examining its challenges, and exploring the places, people, and myths that shape it.<\/p>\n

Director General of TG4, Deirdre N\u00ed Choist\u00edn<\/strong> said: \u201cTG4\u2019s 2025 Autumn schedule reflects our strength as a trusted public service media brand, through continued commitment to Irish language creativity, stories that matter and to delivering real public value. In an English-dominated global media market, TG4 gives a unique perspective on Irish life as well as visibility and status to the Irish language.<\/em><\/p>\n

We\u2019re proud to be recognised for delivering exceptional public value. From our long-standing support of Ladies Football to Fleadh Cheoil na h\u00c9ireann and the success of our Cine4 film scheme with F\u00eds \u00c9ireann and Coimisi\u00fan na Me\u00e1n, to showcasing the best of traditional music Gradam Ceoil TG4 at Expo \u201825 in Osaka next month<\/em>. Our recent drama series CR\u00c1; a partnership with Coimisi\u00fan na Me\u00e1n, BBC NI, F\u00eds \u00c9ireann, NI Screen\u2019s ILBF, now sold to 70 countries worldwide is proof of the global appetite for distinctive Irish storytelling.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Ten days ago, on the 8th August, the European Media Freedom Act came into effect in Europe. It is a landmark piece of legislation for TG4 and for public service media.\u00a0 EMFA provides that public service media should have adequate, sustainable, and predictable funding to fulfill their remit. Ireland has one of the lowest funded public service media as percentage of GDP according to EBU research. Ireland PSM funding is 0.08% of GDP compared to the EU average of 0.14%.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n

For TG4 to continue to grow and\u00a0 deliver for our audiences in Ireland and abroad; adequate, sustainable and predictable funding must align with European standards\u201d.<\/em>

\nAmong the standout titles is Gl\u00fain Z<\/strong>, giving Gen Z Gaels a platform to share their perceptions and experiences; S\u00edle Seoige \u2013 An Saol Mar At\u00e1<\/strong>, where the presenter tackles bullying, parenting and anxiety with empathy and curiosity; N\u00e9ara-\u00c9ags\u00falacht: Dearcadh Difri\u00fail<\/strong>, offers a deeply personal insight into neurodivergence and Ceartas Crua \u2013 Mn\u00e1 v An Dl\u00ed<\/strong>, is a two-part documentary series that examines the impact of 100 years of Ireland’s judicial system on the country’s women. Mn\u00e1 na L\u00e9inte Gorma<\/strong> \u00a0reveals a complex legacy of power, identity, and the role of women in extremism – then and now.\u00a0 Beo Faoin bhF\u00f3d \u00a0<\/strong>delves into the extraordinary true story of Mick Meaney\u2019s 1968 world record attempt to be buried alive.

\nMusic and culture take centre stage in Ceol \u00f3n gCr\u00e9<\/strong>, a lyrical exploration of rural Ireland\u2019s traditions presented by Nell N\u00ed Chr\u00f3in\u00edn, and David Keenan \u2013 Focla ar Chanbh\u00e1s<\/strong>, \u00a0which follows the singer-songwriter over 500 days of creativity.

\nNature and history intertwine in the striking Oile\u00e1n Glas, F\u00e1sach B\u00e1n<\/strong> with Eoin Warner, capturing the Burren\u2019s secret wild world; Aillte<\/strong>, \u00a0a poetic exploration of Ireland\u2019s dramatic cliffs; and Ag Lorg Hy-Brasil<\/strong>, ruminates on an ancient, mythical island off the Connemara coast and asks why it inspired Ireland’s exhibit at the Architecture Biennale in Venice. Rounding out the line-up, Dath an Fh\u00f3mhair<\/strong> \u00a0captures the brilliance of later life through the stories of older adults who cycle, dance, sing, drum, and work with passion.

\nGlacaim<\/strong> Leat<\/strong> reflects on the legacy of marriage equality a decade after the Marriage Equality Act 2015 was implemented. Ar Son na C\u00faise<\/strong> \u00a0brings a lighter touch as two lifelong friends, Joe \u00d3 Domhnaill and Ray Mac Manuis travel the Gaeltacht in search of fun, and \u00d3 Mhuir go T\u00edr<\/strong> \u00a0charts the evolution of travel between Ireland\u2019s islands and the mainland. Hector OZ\/NZ <\/strong>sees Ireland’s intrepid traveller Hector \u00d3 hEochag\u00e1in \u2018Down Under\u2019 for an epic adventure across Australia and New Zealand. Meanwhile, T\u00e9acs Taistil \u00a0<\/strong>returns with its most action packed season yet, taking audiences on a fast-paced, culture rich journey around the globe featuring Louise Cantillon, S\u00e9aghan \u00d3 S\u00failleabh\u00e1in, Proinsias \u00d3 Coinn and Laura N\u00ed Aoidhne.

\nAudiences can also look forward to George Best i gCorcaigh<\/strong>, marking the 50th anniversary of the football legend\u2019s time in the League of Ireland with his unexpected stint at Cork Celtic, captured through exclusive interviews and rare archive footage. Turning to the silver screen, Iom\u00e1na\u00edocht Hollywood<\/strong>\u00a0 explores how Ireland, Irish people, and Gaelic games have been portrayed in film for over a century.

\nSport fans will also continue to enjoy TG4\u2019s unrivaled live coverage, with GAA Beo<\/strong>, Rugba\u00ed Beo<\/strong>, and Sacar na mBan Beo<\/strong> \u00a0returning alongside documentary storytelling in R\u00e9alt na Mara FC<\/strong> and R\u00e1th Chairn Peile na M\u00ed. <\/strong>\u00a0Current affairs remain sharp and relevant, with a new series of investigative current affairs Ini\u00fachadh TG4<\/strong>, and news and analysis on Nuacht TG4<\/strong>, and 7 L\u00e1<\/strong>.

\nOn the cinematic front, TG4\u2019s feature film initiative Cine4 <\/strong>in partnership with F\u00eds \u00c9ireann and Coimisi\u00fan na Me\u00e1n delivers another film this year. B\u00e1ite<\/strong> is a haunting mystery set in 1975 rural Ireland after a body is found in a lake.\u00a0 Aontas<\/strong> a feature film from the Geal\u00e1n<\/strong> scheme between TG4, BBC Gaeilge and ILBF is a highly entertaining noir thriller of a botched robbery and the personal histories that shaped it. \u00a0 Short film Baba\u00ed Brain<\/strong> from a new C\u00e9im Eile<\/strong> scheme with F\u00eds \u00c9ireann and NI Screen\u2019s Irish Language Broadcast Fund, explores the obsession and isolation of a fertility journey in the wake of failed IVF.

\nWith a blend of bold new commissions, ambitious Irish-language films, and trusted returning series, TG4\u2019s Autumn 2025 season is a celebration of distinctive voices and original storytelling connecting audiences at home and abroad to the richness of Irish life today.

A wider look at TG4\u2019s Brands<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

C\u00fala4,<\/strong> dedicated Irish language children\u2019s channel, celebrates its second anniversary this September with a fresh lineup of original commissioned series for young audiences. The schedule mixes brand-new shows such as M\u2019Ainm Mo Sc\u00e9al<\/em>, Dar le Daideo<\/em>, Am Ab\u00fa!<\/em> and Anfa<\/em> with much-loved international favourites dubbed in Irish, including Wonderblocks<\/em>, Tiny Wonders<\/em> and Curious George<\/em>. Broadcasting daily from 6am to 8pm, C\u00fala4 offers a vibrant mix of entertainment and learning, as well as Nuacht C\u00fala4,<\/em> a six minute news bulletin for children airing Tuesday to Friday at 1.30pm and 5.30pm.<\/p>\n

Foghlaim TG4<\/strong>, the station\u2019s online learning platform, remains the go-to destination for improving Irish and supporting teachers. Developed with educators, it offers comprehensive language learning resources.<\/p>\n

This autumn sees the launch of \u2018Tochailt\u2019<\/strong>, a 20 part history series uncovering the lives of Ireland\u2019s most famous historical figures, supported by learning materials from COGG. Also new is \u2018C\u00farsa\u00ed an Chontae\u2019<\/strong>, an 8-part series exploring the stories, facts, and history of every Irish county, aimed at primary students.<\/p>\n

For adult learners,\u00a0 \u2018SNAS TV: Saol Ella\u2019<\/strong>, providing Junior Cycle teachers with resources based on the acclaimed teen drama Saol Ella<\/em>, set in the Gaeltacht.<\/p>\n

MOLSC\u00c9AL<\/strong>,<\/strong> continues to share stories from Gaeltacht areas and Irish-language communities across social media platforms.<\/p>\n

BLOC,<\/strong> a social media hub for 18-35 year old Irish speakers, delivers fresh, engaging content while also encouraging it’s followers to create content for the brand. BLOC is active on Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook and X.<\/p>\n
