TG4 and BBC have confirmed they have commissioned a second series of the crime drama Cr\u00e1. The announcement was made at the Belfast Media Festival today [Wednesday 12 November, 2025.] <\/p>\n

Filming will start on the six-part series in early 2026, on location in County Donegal. Returning and new cast members will be announced soon. <\/p>\n

Cr\u00e1 is produced by F\u00edb\u00edn Media and F\u00edb\u00edn Films NI Ltd for BBC Gaeilge and TG4 with support from Screen Ireland, Northern Ireland Screen\u2019s Irish Language Broadcast Fund, Coimisi\u00fan na Me\u00e1n and distributors About Premium Content (APC).

\nKaren Kirby, BBC Gaeilge Commissioning Executive<\/strong> says: “Cr\u00e1 was the first Irish Language\u202fcrime\u202fdrama series to air on BBC One Northern Ireland, BBC iPlayer and BBC Four and after such positive reactions from audiences, a second series is great news.

M\u00e1ire N\u00ed Chonl\u00e1in, TG4 Commissioning Editor<\/strong> says: \u201cWe\u2019re delighted to see\u202fCr\u00e1\u202freturn for a second series. The first season captivated audiences with its unique voice, creativity and dark humour, and with Richie Conroy and Philip Doherty leading an exciting creative team, we\u2019re confident series two will deliver another compelling and distinctly Irish-language drama for viewers.\u201d <\/em>

Cr\u00e1 series two will be produced by Ciar\u00e1n Charles and Darach \u00d3 Tuairisg for F\u00edb\u00edn Media and M\u00e9abh Nic Alastair for F\u00edb\u00edn Films NI. <\/p>\n

Writers on the new series are Richie Conroy (Cr\u00e1 series one, Leonard and Hungry Paul), Sarah Gordon and Damian McCann (Aontas) and Noel McCann (Blue Lights) and Philip Doherty (Cr\u00e1 series one Director), with actress and filmmaker Aoife Nic Ardghail also joining the team.
