TG4’s extensive súil eile offers live results coverage of 2016 General Election

TG4 will once again offer its highly regarded coverage of the election counts from all Dáil constituency count centres throughout the coming weekend.  Vóta 2016 will air from 10am on Saturday morning (27th February) right through to 1am on Sunday morning, resuming at 10am on Sunday and continuing till 1pm.

This detailed results coverage will combine; updated results for all 40 constituencies from TG4 reporters at each of the election count centres; interviews with candidates whose fate hangs in the balance; expert analysis from a panel of political practitioners and commentators;   regular  easy to digest graphic summaries of the emerging national and regional trends and hourly news headlines.

The channel’s current affairs anchor Páidí Ó Lionáird will present this marathon coverage and he’ll be joined over the two days by an informed panel comprising former Tánaistí, former party leaders and Ministers and serving members of the European Parliament, including Mary Coughlan,   Alan Dukes, Éamon Gilmore, Tony Killeen and current MEPs Liadh Ní Riada and Seán Kelly as well as political analysts  Beirní Ní Chuinn, Antoin Delap, Eoghan Ó Neachtáin, Eoin Ó Murchú and Dr. Séin Ó Muineacháin to dissect and discuss the results as they come in. Election candidates such as Éamon Ó Cuív and Trevor Ó Clochartaigh will also join in to discuss their own fortunes and the overall national picture as it emerges as will representatives of all the parties and groupings and Independents too.

Regular summaries of results and trends will be presented by news presenter Maolra Mac Donnacha in studio with easy-to-read graphics conveying how the votes, emerging trends and transfer patterns will impact the political landscape. Eimear Ní Chonaola will anchor news headlines on the hour, with concise summaries and overviews on election and other world events as they unfold.
