Gradam Ceoil TG4
Seán Ó Sé – Lifetime Achievement Award
Citation
Cork native Seán Ó Sé first rose to prominence as a singer when he sang and recorded the song that he is most known for, An Poc Ar Buille, with Seán Ó Riada agus Ceoltóirí Chualann back in the 60’s. Since then, his voice has been widely regarded as one of the most recognisable in the country and his singing is second to none.
For more than 60 years, his voice has captivated the masses during his many stage performances throughout the country and around the world. He has a particular skill for enthralling the audience, bewitching them with his sweet, musical voice, along with the wonderful stories he tells from his time spent singing with the crème de la crème of the music world.
He is a man who gives a huge amount of encouragement and support to musicians and singers, young and old, and he is a source of inspiration for us all.
It is high time for Seán to receive this Gradam for the amount he has done through his songs to preserve and promote Irish culture and heritage the world over, and to receive the recognition he so deserves for the power and virtuosity of his voice.
